Why DEF Doser Injector OE Matching Is Different From NOx Sensors
With NOx sensors, one OE number usually maps to one physical sensor. DEF doser injectors are different: the same exhaust position can be fed by different dosing modules (Bosch Denoxtronic 2.2, Mercedes BlueTEC, Cummins 2.2), each with its own nozzle geometry, connector and heater rating. Two injectors that look identical on the bench can carry different orifice counts and different flow calibrations — and fitting the wrong one sets a dosing fault code after the ECU self-test.
That is why cross-referencing a doser injector starts with the OE number on the old unit’s label, not with the vehicle badge alone. This guide explains how the major numbering families are structured and what to send with your RFQ.
Decoding the Bosch 0444043xxx Numbering Family
Bosch doser injectors for the Denoxtronic 2.2 platform sit in the 0444 043 xxx block. The part number is stamped on the connector face or the flat of the housing — usually a 9-digit Bosch article number like 0 444 043 003. The same physical injector is sold under OEM numbers (Volvo, Mack) that are longer and chassis-specific.
- 0444043003 / 0444043004 — the highest-volume Denoxtronic 2.2 injector pair; found on Volvo D11/D13 and Mack MP7/MP8. The 003/004 suffix difference is the connector harness variant, not the nozzle.
- 0444043087 / 0444043088 — later Euro 6 revision with revised heater circuit; cross-references to Volvo 21332704 / 21332711.
- Always match the connector shape. 3-pin and 5-pin harnesses exist on the same nozzle family; the harness decides which variant your truck needs.
Volvo / Mack Denoxtronic 2.2 Numbers Explained
Volvo chassis numbers are the ones distributors ask about most, because the same injector appears under three or four references:
- 22391563 — the “base” Volvo D11/D13 number; cross-references Bosch 0444043003.
- 21577030 / 21243945 — harness or production-batch variants of the same nozzle.
- 21332704 / 21332711 — Euro 6 revision numbers; cross-reference the 0444043087/088 Bosch pair.
- Mack MP7/MP8 — most trucks take the Bosch number directly (0444043003/004); Mack chassis references exist but the Bosch number is the reliable search key.
Rule of thumb: if you have a Volvo or Mack truck with a Bosch Denoxtronic 2.2 pump, start the search with the Bosch 0444 043 number — it resolves to the widest list of equivalents.
Mercedes-Benz and Cummins Doser Injector Numbers
- Mercedes-Benz Actros MP4/MP5 (OM471/OM473): the injector OE is an A-number — A0001400379 and A0001400380 are the most requested. Do not confuse these with the pump A-numbers (A0001407678 family) — pump and injector are different parts with different numbers.
- Cummins ISX/ISL (2.2 systems): 2871881 and 2871880 are the doser injector numbers. The Cummins “doser” terminology matches the industry “injector” — same component.
- Scania Euro 6: 1876276, 2009174 and 2292717 are the current injector references for R/S-series.
- Iveco / DAF: 5801567096 (Iveco Cursor 13) and 1819798 (DAF MX-11/MX-13) close out the high-volume platforms.
What to Send With Your RFQ
A doser injector RFQ that gets a same-day quote usually contains all five of these:
- Numéro OE from the injector label (not the pump label)
- Photo of the nozzle face — shows orifice count and any crystallisation
- Photo of the connector — shows pin count and harness variant
- Vehicle year, engine code and emission standard (Euro 5 / Euro 6, or EPA 2013+)
- Quantity target — sample first for fit validation, then volume pricing
Send everything through the DEF Doser Injector OE directory or our Wholesale RFQ Portal. If the number is not in the matrix, our team runs a manual cross-reference against the catalogue data — IATF 16949 factory-direct supply, sample units available for bench validation, export packaging and DDP terms on bulk orders.
